Amy: The designer behind the logo

When the concept of a coffee shop geared towards training individuals with special needs was presented to me a few years ago, I had to admit that I frankly had no idea such a thing existed.  Now that it has sustenance, I couldn’t be more excited to see this dream develop into a warm, inviting, comfortable gathering place for folks of all kinds.

Creating the Logo

The process of creating the Gathering Beans logo..

Developing the logo was a team effort.  We had the concept down, but to create an image that would express our intentions and catch the eye took some time.

Gathering is defined as a coming together of people for various purposes.  Our main desire is to train and educate those who might otherwise have little opportunity to learn and develop valuable life skills.  And in doing so, becoming confident, strong, independent, and happy members of society.

Beans are simply that.   Coffee Beans.  Really good coffee in a real cup served up by really committed and caring baristas.

Oh, we plan to have other beverages and yummy snacks (think warm homemade cookies, real cookies ), but basically it's all about the beans.

Beans had another meaning to me as I created the image.  Minds. Yes, we all have one, and when you gather all those great beans together, think of what can be accomplished!

The byline Meet, Sip, Belong covers the grand scheme of the intentions behind Gathering Beans.  We hold tight to the idea of creating a special gathering spot for the entire community to relax and enjoy.

The colorful image of the two cups is self-explanatory until you notice that the sunny yellow cup has a slight crack in it.  Notice that both cups hold a thriving sprout, stretching up, growing taller.  Maybe someday they will develop into those cheerful sunflowers we all love. Now, the yellow cup may have a slight imperfection, but it is by no means useless.  We all have imperfections, but that does not mean we cannot rise above and find a true purpose in life and a place in the community. 

I cannot express how honored I am to be a part of this team of amazing women, and I'm anxious to see things grow.  The seeds have been planted, and sprouting will soon begin with your help!
